London Venue Expo goes green as easyFairs levels the playing field

London Venue Expo has been bought by easyFairs. The new owners have brought us a timely reminder of how their unique formula for delivering exhibitions brings all the benefits of live interaction while also restricting the environmental impact of doing so.

Based on the concept of modular show stands of equal size for all exhibitors, easyFairs claims to give all events organisers and venue owners, however large or small, an equal opportunity to compete on the basis of their product offering, rather than on the size of their stand or the size of their marketing budget. EasyFairs` managing director, Peter Heath, is quick to point out the environmental dividend of the approach

"Because the exhibitors are under no compulsion to outspend each other by building expensive stands, the easyFairs approach minimises waste and carbon dioxide emissions," he points out. "With 2012 being billed as the green Olympics, and with conservationism high on London’s agenda, we think this is the right show concept, at the right time, and in the right place."

The 2005 event attracted an audience sporting a collective spend of £500 million and the 2007 event will once again co-locate with The Exhibiting Show, this time at Earls Court 2 from 26 to 27 June. With increasing demand by marketers, professional organisers and event agencies for unique and boutique venues to host more sophisticated and intimate relationship-based marketing events, London should be capable of putting on a good show. The new formula introduced this year should also put the emphasis on doing business rather than over-egging the physical exposure.
